Lockdown Rebels Bow Out: Brighton Beach Protest Flops

Planned Mass Rally Scrapped

The so-called “Covidiots” who aimed to flood Brighton Beach for a lunchtime lockdown protest have surprisingly chosen to stay home. An organisation called UK Freedom Movement (UKFM) had urged supporters via social media to gather in public spaces across the country to challenge lockdown rules as unlawful.

Police Crackdown Sends Message

But Sussex Police quickly stepped in with a warning. In a tweet, they said: “While, under normal circumstances, we fully support the right to protest peacefully; during the current pandemic this right is superseded by the right to life in line with the new public health regulations.”

Brighton Beach Stays Quiet

Despite the calls for a mass gathering, the beach remained calm and empty this lunchtime, showing that public safety took precedence over protest plans.
