A fatal smash on Hamstreet’s A2070 has rocked the community, leaving one man dead and causing chaos on Tuesday afternoon.
Silver Vauxhall Meriva Slams Into Purple Volvo Tanker
At about 3.15pm on 13 January 2026, a silver Vauxhall Meriva heading south on Ashford Road collided head-on with a purple Volvo tanker driving north. The violent crash forced the car into a barrier and made the tanker jack-knife, sending its tractor unit careering off the road and crashing into a wooded embankment near the Poundhurst Road overbridge, close to the railway line.
One Man Dead, Tanker Driver Hospitalised
The Vauxhall driver, a man in his 40s, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and are mourning the loss. The tanker driver suffered injuries and was rushed to a local hospital, where he is being treated.
Police Launch Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is urgently seeking anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the vehicles beforehand. They are also appealing for anyone with dashcam footage to come forward and help with the investigation.
