Fake Cops Rip Off Silver Skoda in Shocking Fleets Lane Heist

A silver Skoda Superb was seized in broad daylight after two fake police officers flagged it down on Fleets Lane at 5.45pm on Monday 15 January 2024.

Impersonators Force Occupants Out and Drive Off

Two men, flashing blue lights on their Audi grille, pulled the Skoda over. They forced all occupants out, checked the driver’s licence, and demanded the car keys. One of the impostors then jumped in and drove the Skoda away.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was sprayed in the face with a mysterious ammonium-based substance during the ordeal. Thankfully, he escaped without serious injury.

Vehicle Found and Two Arrested

The stolen Skoda was found abandoned on Whitchurch Avenue around 8.20am the next morning and seized for forensic examination.

After an investigation, Dorset Police arrested two London men, aged 33 and 45, on suspicion of robbery and pretending to be police officers.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

“We take robbery involving violence very seriously,” said Detective Inspector Darren Moores of BCP CID. “We are determined to bring those responsible to justice.”

“If you saw the incident on Fleets Lane, or noticed anything suspicious around Whitchurch Avenue between the night of the incident and early Tuesday morning, please come forward.”

“Any home CCTV or dashcam footage from either location could be vital to our enquiries.”

“We understand this may cause concern in the community and encourage anyone worried to contact their local neighbourhood policing team.”
