Two Dead in Horror 11-Bike Crash at Oulton Park British Superbikes

Tragic Crash at Oulton Park

Police have launched a major investigation after a catastrophic crash at the British Superbikes event at Oulton Park claimed the lives of two motorcyclists. The horror smash involved eleven riders crashing in a chain reaction at the notorious Turn One – Old Hall Corner.

The victims have been named as 21-year-old 1 and 29-year-old Shane Richardson. Both riders succumbed to their injuries following the devastating first-lap collision.

Chaos on the Track

The crash was caught live on TV as one rider lost control exiting the corner, sliding across the tarmac straight into the path of oncoming racers. Multiple bikes collided in a terrifying pile-up, with one even bursting into flames. Emergency crews rushed in, but despite swift medical intervention, Jenner died at the circuit medical centre from a catastrophic head injury. Richardson was airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital with severe chest injuries but tragically died before arrival.

Another rider, 47-year-old Tom Tunstall, suffered serious injuries and remains hospitalised. Five others were treated on-site for minor injuries, while three escaped without harm.

Event Cancelled and Investigations Underway

The British Superbikes event was immediately scrapped after the crash. Cheshire Police confirmed they are investigating the two deaths on behalf of the coroner. Both the Motorcycle Circuit Racing Control Board (MCRCB) and MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR) have also launched full probes alongside the police.

“Police are investigating two deaths on behalf of the coroner following a multiple collision at Oulton Park.”

Heartbreaking Tributes Flood In

The heartbreak has poured in from the British Superbikes community and fans across social media. One friend mourned Jenner, saying:

“You were a baby brother from another mother. I can’t express just how much I’m going to miss your smile and goofing around. Ride with the clouds now.”

Another fan paid tribute to Richardson:

“You will truly be missed, Shane. Your humour and ability to make everyone laugh won’t be forgotten.”

Just before the race, Richardson had posted: “Race 2 ready, let’s go!” — a chilling reminder of how quickly life can change.

British Superbikes Community in Shock

MSVR issued a statement saying:

“This catastrophic accident has tragically resulted in two riders being fatally injured and another sustaining significant injuries.”

The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the British motorcycle racing world and is being called one of the darkest days in recent history.
