Driver Hurled to Hospital After Crash with Fire Engine in Sidcup
A driver was rushed to a major trauma centre after smashing into a fire engine responding to an emergency in Sidcup. The collision took place at the busy junction of Main Road and Station Road at around 10:35pm on December 3.
Emergency crews had to use cutting equipment to free the trapped driver from the wreckage. Paramedics treated him at the scene before he was rushed to hospital for urgent care.
Fire Engine Was Racing to Emergency When Hit
A 1 Fire Brigade spokesperson confirmed the fire engine was en route to an emergency call when the crash occurred. Another fire engine was immediately sent to cover the original incident.
“The collision is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service,” the spokesman added.

Photos from the crash site show several fire engines, police cars, and ambulances lined up along Main Road. Authorities cordoned off part of the road while they dealt with the aftermath.

This jaw-dropping smash comes just weeks after another serious accident on the same stretch. On November 21, a motorcyclist was left in critical condition following a collision.
A 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious injury. She was later released on bail and also received hospital treatment for her injuries.
