Balcony Blaze on Seventh Floor Sparks Early Morning Evacuation

A balcony on the seventh floor of a block of flats was destroyed by fire in the early hours. Thankfully, no one was injured.

Over 100 Residents Evacuated Safely

The Met Police evacuated more than 100 people from the building before firefighters arrived on the scene. Fire crews from Ruislip, Hillingdon, Harrow, Northolt, Wembley, Southall, and nearby stations tackled the blaze.

Cutting-Edge Tech Helps Control the Fire

Fire Brigade Control Officers used 999Eye, a live video streaming service, to monitor the fire directly from a smartphone. The technology sends a secure one-time-use link to callers, allowing real-time footage to be streamed straight to the Control Office screens.

“999Eye provides better situational awareness and allows us to offer the best advice based on live footage,” said a Brigade spokesperson.

The fire was reported at 4:26am and was brought under control by 6:16am. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
