Pepper Spray Chaos Hits Bluewater Shopping Centre!

Part of Dartford’s Bluewater Shopping Centre was plunged into lockdown this afternoon after pepper spray was unleashed near the Winter Gardens, leaving several people exposed and causing panic.

Emergency Services Rush In

Just before 6pm, staff alerted police about multiple shoppers affected by the noxious spray inside the sprawling centre. Officers, paramedics, and firefighters from Kent Fire and Rescue rushed to the scene.

Teen Fight Turns Sour: Pepper Spray Released

A bystander revealed that a fight broke out between two travellers – both teenage girls – when one suddenly pulled out a pepper spray canister and discharged it.

“A large area around the Winter Gardens has been cordoned off by police and medics,” the witness said.

Police Probe Underway as Victims Treated

Kent Police confirmed they were called at 5.25pm on Sunday, 7 May 2023, following reports that a group of teenagers sprayed three others with an unknown substance.

“The teens involved are known to each other. Enquiries continue to track down the suspects,” a police spokesperson said.

The three affected teenagers and several bystanders were checked over by ambulance crews. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported and all have since left the shopping centre.
