Wickham Horse Fair Draws Crowds Despite Smaller Turnout
Hundreds of horse lovers, traders, and revellers flocked to Wickham village for this year’s annual Horse Fair. While the usual crowds of thousands were smaller, the spirit of the event lived on with plenty of horse-related action.
Police and RSPCA Presence Heavy
Police and RSPCA inspectors were out in force, sometimes outnumbering the exhibitors showing horses inside the fenced arena. Travellers from all over the UK packed the village—some with horses to trade, others simply to soak up the atmosphere and catch up with friends.
Historic Event Sees Friendly Police-Visitor Relations
The Wickham Horse Fair is steeped in tradition. This year, police and enforcement agencies appeared keen to work closely with visitors to ensure the event went smoothly. A clear effort was made to strike a balance between regulation and celebration.
