Littlehampton in Shock After Paul Lawrence Murder
The quiet town of Littlehampton is reeling after beloved local Paul Lawrence, 51, was fatally stabbed in the early hours of Sunday, January 28. The tragedy unfolded on Gladonian Road, with Paul pronounced dead at the scene around 6am.
Family Pays Heartbreaking Tributes
Paul’s family described him as a “gentle soul” and the very definition of a good man. “Our Dad was our hero, our strength, our everything,” they said, highlighting his kindness, generosity, and infectious laugh. He devoted his life to his children and grandchildren, proudly celebrating every one of their achievements.
His siblings, John and Shelley, echoed the sentiment, recalling how Paul could “light up any room he entered.” Their pain is raw after losing a brother who was truly one of a kind.
His mother, Marie, shared her devastating grief: “My lovely son Paul, I’m really broken. I loved him so much, I can’t imagine this world without him.”
Paul’s step-daughter, Chloe, praised his big heart. She called him “a great man” and “an even greater step-dad,” grateful for how he embraced her as his own.
16-Year-Old Arrested in Murder Probe
On the same day, a 16-year-old local boy was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was later released on strict bail conditions, including a curfew, until March 14 while police continue their investigation.
Detective Inspector Duncan Elliott of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team urged the public to avoid speculation online that could jeopardise the case. He appealed for anyone with mobile, CCTV, or dashcam footage to come forward.
