Emergency Rush to Thornton Heath
The Metropolitan Police were called at 3:46 am following reports from the London Ambulance Service about a woman in Thornton Heath who ingested poison. She was rushed to Croydon University Hospital, formerly Mayday Hospital, still carrying a potentially hazardous item.
Police and Fire Crews Tackle Toxic Threat
Upon her arrival, cops and the Fire Brigade sealed off parts of the hospital. Specialist officers stepped in, setting up safety cordons and carefully handling the unknown substance.
Tragically, two police officers got exposed during the incident and were immediately admitted for observation. Both remain under medical care as a precaution.
Substance Mystery and Ongoing Probe
The exact nature of the poison remains under wraps. But the drama shines a harsh light on the danger emergency responders face with hazardous materials, stressing the need for strict safety procedures.
