M2 Horror Crash Sees Two Kids Hospitalised, Driver Arrested
A man was arrested after a serious smash on the M2 motorway sent two children to hospital. The crash happened just after 5am on the coastbound carriageway between Junction 4 (Hempstead) and Junction 5 (Sittingbourne) on Thursday, December 28.
M2 Shut for Over Seven Hours After Collision
The collision involved a grey Vauxhall Astra and a red Citroen Berlingo. The accident forced authorities to shut the motorway from Junction 3 at Blue Bell Hill for more than seven hours. The road finally reopened shortly after midday.
Children Discharged, Driver Arrested for Dangerous Driving
Both children, initially in serious but stable condition, have now been discharged from hospital. The Astra driver, who suffered minor injuries, has also been released.
The driver faces a charge of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and was released on bail until March 26.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is urging anyone with dashcam footage or information to come forward.
