Man Left with Broken Jaw After Brutal Newport Robbery

A 19-year-old suffered a fractured jaw after a violent robbery near Newport bus station in the early hours.

Attack Came Out of Nowhere

The victim was heading for a bus between 1am and 2am when a stranger demanded his wallet. When he refused, the thug slammed several punches, knocking him to the ground and stealing his wallet.

Serious Injuries and a Hunt for Witnesses

The attack left the young man with a broken jaw, a broken nose, eye swelling, and damaged teeth. PC Tom Wyld urged locals to come forward:

“A lot of people were celebrating the festivities on Friday night into Saturday morning, so we’re asking for your help. The suspect came from Chapel Street, so we’re keen to speak to anyone who saw him or noticed anyone acting suspiciously. We also want to hear from any residents in the area who have private CCTV or who have found any discarded items in your gardens or bins.”

Suspect Arrested but Still Under Investigation

A 28-year-old man was arrested but later released on bail. Police continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to call 101 quoting 44190464492, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
