Murder Suspect Snapped Up After East Ham Fatal Crash
Met Police acted fast to arrest a man following a deadly collision in East Ham. The tragic incident unfolded early Sunday morning, 24 March, when emergency services were called to Barking Road near Arragon Road at 5:11am.
Man Dies After Collision With Car
Officers found a 35-year-old man injured on the scene and rushed to give first aid. Despite their efforts, the man later died. His family have been informed and are receiving support from police.
Two Arrested, Investigation Underway
- At 3:30pm the same day, a 33-year-old man was arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of murder.
- A 30-year-old woman was also held on suspicion of assisting an offender.
- Both remain in custody as inquiries continue.
Detective Chief Inspector Speaks Out
“My thoughts are with the victim’s family at what will be an incredibly difficult time for them,” said Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, who is leading the probe.
“We know many people had been at an event on Barking Road. Forensic collision investigators have been at the scene all day. While there’s no believed risk to the wider community, officers will stay in the area to reassure residents.”
