Lancashire Police Ramp Up War on Anti-Social Behaviour

Lancashire Police have stepped up their fight against anti-social behaviour (ASB) with an extra 5,700 hours of foot patrols thanks to Operation Centurion. Launched in July 2023 by Police and Crime Commissioner Andrew Snowden, the crackdown targets crime hotspots across the county.

Hotspot Patrols Smash ASB

Backed by a £2million government fund, extra police boots hit the streets in six key areas: Accrington, Blackpool, Chorley, Fleetwood, Padiham, and Preston. Since then, officers have attended over 700 incidents, carried out 1,500 stop checks, nearly 300 stop searches, and made 75 arrests.

Operation Expands Across Lancashire

This month, the patrol blitz has extended to cover all Lancashire districts, adding hotspots like Darwen, St Annes, Morecambe, Clitheroe, Colne, Bacup, Leyland, and Skelmersdale. The message is clear – no corner of Lancashire will be ignored.

The force has also launched a dedicated website, LancashireTacklingASB.co.uk, encouraging residents to report anti-social behaviour and aid the crackdown.

Top Brass Back Operation Centurion

“The roll out of the additional Op Centurion foot patrols is great news for Lancashire and exactly what residents tell me they want to see – more officers on the beat,” said Commissioner Andrew Snowden.

“The new ASB Prevention and Problem-Solving Command – packed with specialist officers tackling everything from drug dens to criminal damage – is making a real difference. We’re seeing positive results already, and we’re committed to keeping Lancashire safe.”

Assistant Chief Constable Russ Procter added:

“People have told us ASB matters, and we’re listening. More officers on patrol, backed by civil and criminal orders, means we’re taking the fight to those causing trouble and making communities safer.”

The force’s refreshed approach combines high visibility patrols with specialist teams working alongside partners to close down trouble spots and clamp down on offenders.

Operation Centurion is a clear signal: Lancashire means business when it comes to stamping out anti-social behaviour.
