Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Early Morning Brighton Crash

Emergency crews rushed to a nasty crash on Brighton’s A259 Marine Drive just before 3am today (7 September). A car hit a 20-year-old man at the junction with Arundel Road, seriously injuring him.

Victim Rushed to Hospital

The young pedestrian was taken straight to Royal Sussex County Hospital with serious injuries. He remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Driver Arrested, Investigations Underway

The driver, a 59-year-old man, escaped unhurt but has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He is currently in police custody while officers probe the crash.

Police Seek Witnesses and Footage

Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam, doorbell, or CCTV footage to come forward. Information can be sent via email to [email protected] or reported online quoting Operation Sheraton.

Temporary road closures caused delays but the road has now reopened. Police thanked locals for their patience during the disruption.
