Teen Attacked in Newbury Park: Suspect Arrested and Released on Bail

A 19-year-old man from Newbury has been arrested after a violent attack in Victoria Park but has since been released on police bail.

Brutal Assault Behind Skate Park

On Thursday evening between 7pm and 8pm, a 19-year-old victim was walking with a friend in Victoria Park when another man approached him. The attacker dragged the victim behind the skate park and launched a savage assault, kicking and punching his head and back multiple times.

The victim suffered cuts and bruises to his head, neck, and back and needed hospital treatment. Fortunately, he has now been discharged.

Police Seek Witnesses as Investigation Continues

Designated investigator Susan Bradshaw of Newbury police station said: “I am appealing to anyone who has any information about this incident to get in touch.”

“I understand that this incident will cause concern but I believe this is an isolated event. The victim and offender are known to each other.”
