Cyclist Found Dead in Droxford Believed to Be Missing Southampton Man
Police investigating the cyclist’s death in Droxford on Monday, 10 August, now believe the victim is 55-year-old Declan Murray, reported missing from Southampton six days later on 16 August.
Declan’s family have been informed and are receiving specialist support, though formal identification is still pending.
Body Discovered Late at Night
The cyclist’s body was found around 11pm on the B2150 near the Station Road junction in Droxford. Officers are still probing the exact circumstances of the tragic incident.
No Other Vehicles Involved, Say Police
A Home Office post mortem ruled out involvement of any other vehicles. Sergeant Jonathan Bates of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:
“Our enquiries are ongoing, including formal ID checks, to confirm any links with Declan’s disappearance. We want to assure his family and the community that we are treating this with the utmost seriousness.”
He added: “We will provide an update once our investigations conclude.”
