Man Arrested After Woman Raped Following Lift Offer in Bexhill-on-Sea

A 66-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman he offered a lift to was attacked in Bexhill-on-Sea.

Police Launch Urgent Appeal for Witnesses

The alleged attack happened between 8pm and 10pm on Saturday, September 24. Police are urgently asking anyone with information to come forward, especially if they saw the woman in the areas near Bexhill railway station, Western Road, Devonshire Road, Endwell Road, Parkhurst Road, or Albert Road during that time.

The victim is described as a white woman in her 30s, slim build, with brunette hair, walking alone.

Detective Pleads for More Information

“We understand the victim, who is receiving specialist support, spoke to a couple near Bexhill station,” Detective Inspector James Meanwell said. “We want to hear from anyone who saw her alone or talking to a man around those locations.”

The arrested man has been bailed until December 22 pending further enquiries.
