Blaze Breaks Out Above Cosham Pizza Shop

Firefighters from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service raced to a major blaze tonight at a flat above a pizza takeaway on Cosham High Street.

Fire Engines and Aerial Ladder Deployed

Multiple fire engines from Cosham, Portchester, and Southsea scrambled to the scene. The aerial ladder platform from Southsea was also brought in to tackle the spreading flames.

Smoke Spreads to Loft as Crews Battle Fire

“Crews were called at 7:46pm to a first-floor flat fire,” a Hampshire Fire spokesperson said. “On arrival, thick smoke was billowing and the fire was spreading to the loft space.”

  • Two sets of breathing apparatus used
  • Three jets and two hose reel jets deployed
  • Aerial ladder platform and ventilation fans used for smoke clearance

All residents were accounted for, and paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service were stood down.

Crime Scene Established as Investigation Begins

Hampshire Constabulary set up a crime scene and will guard it overnight. The investigation to find the cause of the blaze will start at first light.

Firefighters stood down by 9:38pm after bringing the fire under control.
