Blaze Ravages Disused Dagenham Pub Outbuilding

Six fire engines and 40 firefighters raced to tackle a fierce fire at an abandoned pub on Wood Lane, Dagenham. The flames completely gutted a detached storage building next to the pub, leaving nothing but charred rubble.

Quick-Thinking Firefighters Save Pub

Thankfully, no injuries were reported. Station Commander Peter Cox, who led the operation, said: “Crews arrived to see smoke billowing from the roof of a disused pub. On closer inspection, they found a small fire blazing in the storage building beside it.”

He added, “Firefighters worked flat out to knock down the flames fast and stop the fire from spreading to the main pub building.”

Fire Under Control Within 90 Minutes

The London Fire Brigade got the emergency call at 6.47am. By 8am, the fire was under control thanks to swift action from crews from Dagenham, Ilford, Romford, and Peckham fire stations.

Investigation Underway

The cause of the fire remains unknown. Both the London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police Service have launched investigations to uncover what sparked the blaze.
