Man Arrested After Brutal Assault on Walworth Road
A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm following a serious attack on Walworth Road, Southwark, early this morning.
Early Morning Attack Shocks Southwark
Police rushed to Walworth Road at 7.24am after reports of an assault. They found a 40-year-old man injured at the scene. The victim was quickly taken to hospital, where medics confirmed his injuries are non-life-threatening and non-life-changing.
Crime Scene Established, Investigation Underway
A crime scene was set up on the busy South London road as officers carried out initial enquiries. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:
“At 07:24hrs on Friday, 27 June, officers and the London Ambulance Service responded to reports of an assault on Walworth Road, Southwark. One victim, a 40-year-old man, presented with injuries. He was taken to hospital where his condition was not deemed life-threatening or life-changing.
A man in his thirties has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. A crime scene has been established and enquiries are ongoing.”
