Murder Probe Launched After Woman Stabbed to Death in Merseyside Shop
A shocking murder investigation is underway after a woman in her 40s was fatally stabbed at a shop on Stanley Road, Merseyside.
Emergency services raced to the scene near Wadham Road at around 5:05pm on Friday, June 20, following reports the woman had been attacked and stabbed in the torso.
Despite being rushed to hospital, she tragically died from her injuries later that evening.
Suspect Held Over Fatal Stabbing
A 47-year-old man from Widnes was first arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. After the victim’s death, police re-arrested him on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody awaiting further questioning.
Police Confirm Victim and Suspect Knew Each Other
Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy said: “It is desperately sad that a woman lost her life earlier today as a result of this incident. Our thoughts are with her family, who now face the heartbreaking loss.”
DI Mulcahy confirmed the incident is being treated as a domestic assault, with the victim and suspect known to each other. Authorities emphasized no one else is wanted in connection to the stabbing.

Officers are urgently appealing for anyone in the Stanley Road area around 5pm on Friday, or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage, to get in touch immediately.
