Dog dies as Kent fire crews tackle basement fire in Folkestone

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a fire in a basement flat of a four story building in Guildhalll Street, Folkestone. On Saturday evening at around 7.30pm. The flat was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Firefighters entered the property to find a pet dog had died. There were no other casualties. Crews used breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze. The flat was cleared of smoke with a large fan. The cause isn’t known and an investigation has been launched.
