Tragic Death on A13 After Crazy Police Chase Ends in Fatal Crash
A 21-year-old woman died on the spot after a twisted police pursuit on the A13 in Dagenham went horribly wrong. The young woman was a passenger in a vehicle that crashed head-on into a friend’s Black BMW. The other car was a white van fleeing police, which drove the wrong way up the A13 before the fatal smash.
Van Driver’s Mad Dash Ends in Disaster
Essex Police tried to stop the van just after 2.30am on November 25, but the driver slammed the accelerator instead. The pursuit continued near Rainham, London-bound, before the van collided with another car. Firefighters had to cut the driver free from the wreckage. He’s now in hospital with serious injuries and faces several charges, including death by dangerous driving.
Police and Investigation Underway
Detective Chief Superintendent Andrew Packer said: “Despite the best efforts of officers and medics at the scene, a female passenger in the second vehicle has now died.”
Essex Police are working closely with the Metropolitan Police. The horrifying episode has been handed over to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) for a full investigation.
Massive Traffic Chaos After Crash
The A13 was shut down for hours, causing huge tailbacks. Traffic backed up for miles past Rainham and stretched all the way to Barking. The M25 and A127 also suffered major delays as a result.
The Metropolitan Police Service and London Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.
