PC Who Delivered Baby on M3 Launches Search for ‘Firstborn’ 18 Years On
Miracle Birth on Motorway
PC Lindsay Yates has issued a heartfelt appeal to track down an 18-year-old she helped deliver on the side of the M3 in Winchester back in 2005. The unforgettable call saw her rush to assist a young mother giving birth at a marker post — a rare and tense roadside arrival.
Memories Still Fresh After Nearly Two Decades
“The family came from the 123 day, and I had no idea what to do!” PC Yates recalled. After the dramatic delivery, mum and baby were rushed to the Royal County Hospital, with dad trailing behind, pale but relieved. The day was hectic: she even had to fight for emergency uniform replacements to cover post-birth duties.
Seeking to Reconnect on the 18th Birthday
Not long after this life-changing event, PC Yates discovered she was pregnant with her own first son. Now, after 24 years in the force, she still counts this roadside birth as a “duty to remember.”
She hopes the power of social media can help find her “firstborn” on this milestone birthday. The family is believed to have lived in Hampshire’s Hedge End or Park Gate area at the time.
Got info? PC Yates would love to hear from you.
