Brave Lifeboat Crew Rescue 11-Year-Old Boy Clinging to Eastney Pier

Dramatic Rescue in Strong Currents

Just before 4pm on Sunday, Portsea Rescue 1 sprang into action after the Solent Coastguard alerted them to an 11-year-old boy clinging desperately to the underside of Eastney Outfall pier.

The youngster was stuck in a perilous spot, unable to fight the fierce spring tide currents blocking his swim back to shore.

Lifeboat Crew Pull Off Heroic Recovery

Coxswain Luke Daurvalla and crew member Roly Warmington quickly sized up the challenge. Battling powerful water flow at the harbour entrance, they skillfully navigated Portsea Rescue 1 to reach the stranded boy.

With backup from Portsea’s rescue watercraft, the team hauled the child to safety on the beach, where Coastguard personnel were ready to check him for injuries.

Quick Thinking Saves the Day

The swift and gutsy response by the lifeboat crew ensured the boy was rescued unharmed in tricky, dangerous conditions.
