Nurses Walk Out Again in Sussex Over Pay and Conditions
Second Day of Strikes Hits Sussex Hospitals
Nurses who are part of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) staged a second day of strikes on Thursday across Sussex, protesting pay and working conditions. The industrial action follows a picket at Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton on Wednesday.
Strike Moves to Eastbourne
On Thursday, Sussex News reported from DGH Hospital in Eastbourne, where nurses joined the ongoing walkout, highlighting widespread frustration among NHS staff in the region.
Ambulance Workers to Join NHS Walkout
The dispute is set to escalate further. Ambulance workers from the GMB union will join nurses on strike on 6 February across England and Wales. This joint action will be the largest NHS walkout yet in this protracted pay dispute.
GMB national secretary Rachel Harrison said: “Ambulance workers are angry. Our message to the government is clear – talk pay now.”
Emergency Cover Required by Law
Trade union laws require both unions to maintain emergency cover during strikes, but tensions remain high as NHS workers demand better pay and improved working conditions.
