Barn Blaze Sparks Major Fire Response Near Alresford
Firefighters across Hampshire rushed to a barn engulfed in flames near Ropley, just before 4pm yesterday. The blaze threatened nearby homes and involved a forklift and 1,500 bales of hay inside the barn.
Power Cut to Keep Firefighters Safe
The Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service teamed up with the electricity company to cut power from nearby cables, ensuring safety during the operation. Southern Water and the 1 Agency also lent crucial support.
Relief Crews Keep the Fire at Bay
After the initial response from crews in Alton, Winchester, and Petersfield, relief teams arrived from Droxford, Alresford, Basingstoke, St Mary’s, and Cosham to take over through the evening.
Fire Now Under Control
The incident has been scaled back, with just one fire engine remaining to damp down a nearby hedgerow and prevent flare-ups.
