Blackwall Tunnel Shut Northbound – Chaos Hits London Roads!
Northbound A102 Blackwall Tunnel Closed
The A102 Blackwall Tunnel northbound has been slammed shut this afternoon after a mystery obstruction blocked the road. Expect heavy delays and snarled traffic stretching from Greenwich all the way to Poplar.
Emergency Crews on Scene
Transport for London (TfL) confirmed they shut the tunnel following reports of a blockage inside. Emergency services are currently on-site, working flat out to clear the mess and get traffic moving again.
Gridlock and Diversions Hit Drivers and Buses
Motorists face long tailbacks, with traffic jammed on the A102 and nearby roads. Both northbound and southbound lanes are experiencing queues as the closure causes ripple effects. Bus services between south and east London are also disrupted, with delays and diversions in place.
“Due to an obstruction in the northbound Blackwall Tunnel, the tunnel is currently closed. Drivers are urged to avoid the area where possible and seek alternative routes. We are working with emergency services to reopen the tunnel as soon as it is safe to do so,” said a TfL spokesperson.
Plan Ahead – Alternative Routes Recommended
Travellers are advised to check live updates before heading out. Consider switching to the Woolwich Ferry or Rotherhithe Tunnel for crossing the river – but be warned, these routes could also suffer delays from the extra traffic.
