Tragedy struck the Mutiny Festival in Portsmouth as two young people have died after falling ill from suspected drug use. An 18-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man from West Leigh were found unconscious at the event site, and despite desperate efforts by on-site medics and paramedics, both later died in hospital.
Festival Horror: Two Dead After Falling Ill
The incidents occurred on Saturday at King George V Playing Fields, Cosham. The young woman fell ill around 7.10pm and was rushed to Queen Alexandra Hospital but sadly passed away. Shortly after, at 7.30pm, the young man was found collapsed at the same site and was also taken to hospital where he later died.
Police Launch Investigation But No Suspicious Circumstances
A police source said the deaths were not being treated as suspicious. Investigations are ongoing, led by the coroner’s office. “Officers continue to work closely with Mutiny organisers,” they added. “Witnesses and friends who were at the event are being supported. Next of kin have been informed.”
Authorities Urge Public to Come Forward
Detectives are appealing for anyone with information about either incident to contact them on 101. Specialist officers are supporting the families of both victims through this devastating time. At this stage, the deaths are being treated as separate cases while enquiries continue.
The Mutiny Festival remains under close watch as police and organisers try to piece together what led to this heartbreaking outcome.
