Hastings RNLI Launches First Ever Festive December Dip
Brave souls in Hastings are set to take the plunge this December 15th as the RNLI Lifeboat Station hosts its inaugural “December Dip.” From 9 a.m. to noon, daring locals can dive into the icy 11°C coastal waters to raise cash for the lifesaving RNLI charity. The first wave of swimmers hits the water at 10:30 a.m., promising a chilly but cheerful start to the festive season.
Jump In or Just Dip a Toe – Fancy Dress Welcome!
The event’s open to all aged 12 and over who can swim, but full immersion is optional – even a toe-dip counts. Participants are encouraged to don fancy dress to light up the chilly morning with festive flair. After braving the cold splash, everyone gets a free hot drink and sweet treat to warm up and celebrate their courage.
Family Fun Meets Lifesaving Fundraiser
The December Dip is designed for the whole family – whether you’re jumping in or cheering from the shore. There’ll be refreshments on sale plus the RNLI shop stocked with perfect Christmas gifts that also support life-saving work. Entry costs just £7, but organisers hope each dipper will raise around £100 in sponsorship to help fund RNLI’s vital rescue missions.
Last-Minute Dippers Still Welcome!
Not signed up yet? Don’t worry. Hastings RNLI is happy to take on-the-day registrations. Just turn up on December 15th and join the community splash. For full details and online sign-up, visit the Hastings December Dip Eventbrite page.
Make this December Dip a new holiday tradition – a freezing, festive, fun way to support heroes who save lives on the UK’s coastline every day.
