easyJet Plants Flag at Southend with New Base and Six Hot Routes
easyJet is back and buzzing at London Southend Airport! The budget airline just announced it’s launching a shiny new base there, its 10th UK hub, kicking off in March 2025. That means six fresh routes and hundreds of new jobs – 130 to be exact – are landing in Essex.
Three New Aircraft, Six Sunny Destinations
easyJet will station three sleek, 186-seat neo planes at Southend, ready to whisk holidaymakers away to sunny spots like Pisa, Gran Canaria, Dalaman, Antalya, Marrakech, and Enfidha in Tunisia. These routes join the popular line-up that already flies from Southend to Amsterdam, Geneva, Palma de Mallorca, Malaga, Faro, and Paris Charles de Gaulle.
Holidays on Sale Tomorrow – Fly from May 2025
Starting tomorrow, travellers can book easyJet holidays from Southend, with departures from 1st May 2025. Package deals will now run seven days a week, offering more choice and flexibility for those wanting a getaway from the South East.
Big Comeback After the Pandemic
easyJet had paused operations at Southend during the pandemic, but now it’s confident the travel boom is back. CEO Johan Lundgren said:
“We are delighted to be announcing another three-aircraft base in the UK, at London Southend Airport. This will create hundreds of jobs and provide more choice for consumers with new routes and package holidays.”
John Upton, CEO of Southend Airport, added:
“We’re thrilled to welcome an easyJet base to London Southend, supporting and creating hundreds of jobs locally as well as convenient, new and returning connections to many popular leisure and city destinations.”
easyJet Doubling Down on the UK Market
This bold move underlines easyJet’s commitment to UK travellers, promising affordable and accessible flights and boosting Southend’s status as a key player in Britain’s aviation scene. Ready for takeoff?
