Terrified dog plummets off Hastings cliffs – heroic rescue saves the day!
Cliff fall sparks dramatic rescue near Hastings
A dog plunged from the cliffs and landed on a narrow ledge near Hastings, triggering a tense rescue on Sunday afternoon. Hastings Coastguard Rescue Team sprang into action alongside East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.
Multiple teams join in daring operation
With the tricky terrain posing serious challenges, back-up arrived from neighbouring Coastguard units in Bexhill and Eastbourne. The combined forces worked seamlessly to secure the stranded pooch.
Happy ending and vital safety warning
After a precise and careful effort, the dog was hauled to safety, completely unharmed. A Hastings Coastguard spokesperson hailed the teamwork:
“This was a great example of joint working with flank stations and other agencies, which resulted in a positive outcome for the dog.”
The rescue team also urged dog owners to stay vigilant near dangerous cliff edges. “We strongly encourage keeping dogs on a lead to prevent such incidents,” the statement warned.
