Exmouth Lifeboat Launches to Rescue Drifting Boat Near Seafront

At 7.43pm on Thursday 26th October 2023, H.M. Coastguard scrambled the Exmouth RNLI inshore lifeboat D-805 George Bearman II after reports of a drifting tender near the Octagon off Exmouth seafront.

Quick Response from Lifeboat Crew

The lifeboat launched at 7.52pm, racing to the scene just minutes after the call. Volunteers quickly located the drifting boat a few metres offshore and confirmed there were no occupants on board.

Safe Rescue and Recovery

Two crew members hauled the tender safely back to shore by hand. They then worked alongside the Exmouth Coastguard Rescue Team to confirm the vessel had simply come adrift with no one in danger.

With the job done, H.M. Coastguard stood down the lifeboat crew, who promptly readied the boat for the next callout.
