The London Fire Brigade (LFB) has issued a stark warning to e-bike and e-scooter users after a serious fire broke out at a flat on Jasper Avenue, Hanwell, on Sunday evening.

The blaze started when an e-bike battery failed – reportedly due to overcharging and using the wrong charger. The fire caused extensive damage to a first-floor flat and minor damage to the flat above. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
LFB crews arrived swiftly, tackling the flames by 6:53pm. A spokesperson warned that these fires can spread fast, especially in flats with shared hallways. “We’ve seen people forced to jump from windows to escape,” they said.
