Blaze Erupts in Westcliff Two-Storey Home – Firefighters Race to Control Roof Fire
Firefighters from Essex Fire and Rescue Service battled a fierce blaze at a two-storey home in Westcliff today. The fire engulfed the property’s roof and loft, with the entire loft area reported as 100% alight.
Aerial Ladder Platform Called In
To tackle the flames safely and effectively, the officer-in-charge requested an Aerial Ladder Platform. This allowed crews to spray water from above and attack the blaze head-on. Thick smoke billowed from the property, creating a smoky hazard in the vicinity.
Public Urged to Keep Clear
Officials advised local residents and workers to avoid the area and keep all doors and windows shut while firefighters battled the fire. The ongoing smoke posed potential health risks until the situation came under control.
Fire Now Under Control
Update: The fire is now contained. Crews remain on site, targeting hotspots inside the building and using the aerial platform to douse any remaining flames from outside. Thanks to their swift action, the blaze has been prevented from spreading further.
