Essex Blaze Hits Three-Storey Building on Church Hill
Essex Fire and Rescue rushed to a fierce fire in a three-storey building on Church Hill late Saturday night. The alarm went off at 11:32pm, prompting a major response.
Fire Crews Mobilise from Across Region
Firefighters from Loughton, Epping, Harlow, Grays, and even the London Fire Brigade’s Chingford and specialist teams scrambled to the scene. The Grays crew brought an Aerial Ladder Platform to the blaze.
Quick Evacuation and Blazing Battle
Station Manager Kev Jenner said, “Crews were faced with a well-developed fire affecting a commercial premises on the ground floor and offices above. The adjoining flats were swiftly evacuated. Our teams did fantastically to stop the fire spreading.”
Firefighters charged inside and attacked the flames externally too. Their swift action stopped the fire from engulfing neighbouring flats.
Fire Quelled by 1:15am – Investigation Underway
The blaze was fully extinguished by 1:15am, allowing residents to return safely. Crews stayed on to damp down and hunt for hotspots.
A section of Church Hill remains closed this morning as fire crews continue their investigation into what sparked the fire.
