Hastings Faces Water Crisis as Reservoir Hits Rock Bottom

Southern Water has issued a blunt apology as Hastings and St Leonards plunge into a water crisis. Thousands of customers are left with either no water or alarmingly low pressure.

Fairlight Reservoir Drained to Emergency Levels

The trouble stems from Fairlight Reservoir, which has hit its bare bones after a sudden power cut at Brede Water Supply Works wiped out the last reserves. The situation went from bad to worse in no time.

Scramble to Fix Water Shortage Underway

  • Water works are now back online after the power cut.
  • Emergency tankers race to refill the draining reservoir.
  • Southern Water is exploring every possible option to boost supply—fast.

Bottled Water Stations Open for Thirsty Locals

To ease the strain, a bottled water station has been set up at Pelham Place Car Park, Carlisle Parade, Hastings, TN34 3AD. It will stay open until 10pm tonight for anyone in need.

“We’re working round the clock to restore water levels and get things back to normal,” Southern Water said.
