Rail Worker Dies in Eastleigh – Police Launch Investigation
Tragedy struck at Eastleigh Railway Depot yesterday afternoon as a 53-year-old railway worker died following an incident involving machinery.
Fatal Incident at Eastleigh Depot
British Transport Police were called to the depot at 2:50pm after reports of a worker being injured while operating machinery. Paramedics rushed to the scene but, despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Arrest Made, Man Released Under Investigation
A man in his forties was arrested at the scene and taken into custody for questioning. He has since been released under investigation as inquiries continue.
Full Probe Underway with Rail Authorities
Detectives are now working alongside the Office of Rail and Road to uncover the exact circumstances behind the fatal accident.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Langley said: “This is a tragic incident and our deepest condolences are with the man’s family, who are being supported by specially trained officers. A full and thorough investigation is underway to establish exactly what happened to lead to this railway worker’s sad death.
