Long Delays Hit A3 After Multi-Vehicle Smash Near Buriton
Motorists on the A3 northbound near Buriton are stuck in major delays after a multi-vehicle collision involving a heavy goods vehicle and at least five cars.
One Lane Closed as Police Investigate Crash
The crash happened just before 1pm, forcing one lane to close while police and recovery teams clear the scene. Hampshire Road Policing officers brought in contractors from Boarhunt for the clean-up, with Highways England also on-site repairing damaged road furniture.
Lorry and Multiple Cars Involved in Chain Reaction
It’s understood a vehicle had broken down, and the driver stopped to change a tyre. During the stop, a lorry performed a go-around manoeuvre when another car collided with it, triggering a pile-up involving at least five other cars.
Injuries Reported but Not Life-Threatening
Emergency crews attended, including South Central Ambulance. One driver was taken to hospital with injuries described as not serious. Several vehicles, including a dark BMW and a white Peugeot, were badly damaged while two others suffered minor dents. The lorry, operated by NV Transport in Chichester, sustained rear trailer damage.
Expect ongoing delays while the investigation and recovery continues. More updates to follow.
