M25 Junction 10 Shutdown: Major Weekend Closure Alert!
The M25 at junction 10, aka the A3 Wisley Interchange, is getting a £317 million makeover to boost traffic flow and safety. Work started summer 2022 and won’t wrap until summer 2025. But drivers beware – a full weekend closure is coming up to install a crucial new bridge.
Full Weekend Closure Details
- When: From 9pm Friday, May 10 to 6am Monday, May 13.
- Where: M25 between junctions 9 (A243 Leatherhead) and 10 (A3 Wisley) – closed both directions.
- Why: To fit a new bridge as part of the huge junction upgrade.
- Advice: Avoid travel if you can. Plan ahead and use recommended diversions to dodge chaos.
Follow These Diversion Routes
- Clockwise: 19-mile detour via the A3 and A240 for all except over-height vehicles. Drivers urged to stick to diversion signs, not just SatNavs.
- Anticlockwise: Similar alternate routes will be in place to keep traffic moving smoothly.
- ULEZ Warning: Using the signed diversions means no Ultra Low Emission Zone charges over the weekend – a win for drivers. But ULEZ still applies on other London routes.
- Over-Height Vehicles: Special detours are set up to avoid low bridges, keeping big rigs safe.
More Closures on the Horizon
After May’s big weekend shutdown, expect three more one-day closures later this year. June stays clear, but stay tuned for updates once May’s works finish.
The M25 Junction 10 overhaul is set to slash congestion and boost safety for thousands each day. For the latest closures and traffic updates, keep checking the official daily closures page before you travel.
