Tragic Rescue Ends in Death off Brighton Marina
A man has died following a dramatic rescue operation near Brighton Marina on Friday afternoon (October 24).
Emergency crews were scrambled shortly after 1:15pm when witnesses spotted a man struggling in the water. He was last seen on a jet ski before the alarm was raised.
Coastguard, Lifeboats & Police Race Against Time
Newhaven Coastguard, Shoreham and Brighton RNLI lifeboats, Sussex Police, and South East Coast Ambulance Service all sprang into action in a desperate bid to save the man.
He was pulled from the water and rushed to Royal Sussex County Hospital. Despite frantic medical efforts, he was sadly pronounced dead.
Victim Identified, Investigation Launched
A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “A 41-year-old man from Brighton was brought to shore where he received medical attention, however, he was sadly pronounced deceased at hospital.”
His next of kin have been informed. Sussex Police have launched a full investigation to find out exactly how the tragedy unfolded.
