Blaze Rips Through Andover Home: Residents Forced Out
A fierce fire tore through a property on Pilgrims Way, Andover, last Saturday afternoon, leaving several residents homeless. Fire crews were scrambled at 4.42pm after flames erupted in a garden before engulfing an end-of-terrace house.
Seven Pumps Battle Fierce Fire
Firefighters from Andover, Eastleigh, Overton, Basingstoke, Alresford, Romsey, and Service Headquarters joined forces to tackle the blaze. The seven-pump operation deployed eight breathing apparatus sets, two jets, two hose reels, and tactical ventilation to clear thick smoke.
Devastating Damage and Swift Rescue
- One property was completely destroyed – 100% damaged by fire.
- Neighbor’s roof took a 30% hit, plus extensive water damage.
- Ten residents and a dog were rehoused by Test Valley Borough Council.
Fire Under Control but Vigilance Remains
The ‘stop’ message came through at 7.23pm, but Andover crews returned later that evening to check for lingering hotspots. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
