Royal Mail Unveils Stunning Steam Train Stamp Collection
Royal Mail has launched a smashing new series of 10 stamps celebrating 200 years of British railway history. This dazzling collection honours iconic steam locomotives and the pioneers who built the UK’s legendary rail network.
Six Legendary Locos Star on New Stamps
The main stamp set features six iconic steam engines that revolutionised rail travel across Britain:
- Locomotion No. 1
- Rocket
- City of Truro
- Mallard
- Duchess of Hamilton
- Evening Star
Special Miniature Sheet Commemorates Railway Milestone
Alongside the main set, a limited-edition four-stamp miniature sheet marks the 200th anniversary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway, which opened in 1825. The stamps showcase:
- Artwork of the historic S&DR opening in 1825
- Vintage image of Locomotion No. 1 at Darlington, circa 1890
- Centenary postcard from 1925
- Photo of the Locomotion No. 1 replica from 1975
