Sixty Firefighters Battle Huge Bayswater Blaze
A massive fire ripped through a converted house in London’s Bayswater, bringing 60 firefighters rushing to the scene.
Fire Rages in Kensington Gardens Square
The blaze broke out just before 7pm on Saturday in a flat in Kensington Gardens Square. It quickly spread to a second flat inside the six-storey, mid-terraced building.
Police quickly sealed off parts of the street as thick smoke billowed over the area. Fire crews from six stations – Kensington, North Kensington, Paddington, Hammersmith, Euston, and Chelsea – were dispatched to tackle the inferno.
Armada of Fire Engines and Ladder Platform Arrive
The London Fire Brigade’s spokesman confirmed eight fire engines and a turntable ladder are currently fighting the blaze. In total, 58 firefighters and officers are on site battling the flames.
The fire is mainly affecting flats on the third and fourth floors of the converted property.
Cause of Fire Still Unknown
At this stage, the cause of the fire remains unknown. Fire crews continue working to bring the situation under control, with updates expected to follow.
