Car Crashes Into Titchfield School Playground Sparking Chaos
Emergency crews rushed to Abshot Road in Titchfield after a dark Vauxhall Vectra smashed through two sets of safety railings outside St John’s School just after 5.30pm.
Earlier in the day, parents had been collecting kids from the busy playground — making the crash all the more frightening. Fortunately, the driver’s injuries are believed to be minor.
An ambulance took one person to QA Hospital in Portsmouth, while Hampshire Constabulary sealed off the junction of Abshot Road and Hunts Pond Road. Specialists from Boarhunt Garage were called in to recover the wrecked car.
Road Closures and Bus Diversions Slam Local Traffic
Police set up a temporary road closure, causing bus diversions in the area as crews worked to clear the scene. It’s still unclear if the school will close due to the damage sustained.
Eyewitness: ‘Fast Food Delivery Driver Lost Control’
“I believe it was a pizza delivery driver speeding down from Warash Road,” said a Hunt Road resident who asked not to be named. “Apparently, he had to give way to turning traffic and ended up smashing into the railings. There was a huge crash. It’s scary to think what could have happened — there was an after school club running at the time. People really need to slow down. The driver was lucky not to be badly hurt.”
The startling incident has left locals shaken and questioning road safety outside schools. Authorities continue their investigation.
