Teignmouth Boxing Day Swim CANCELLED After Lifeboat Emergency

Heads up, Teignmouth! The iconic Boxing Day Walk in the Sea has been scrapped. The volunteer crew from Teignmouth Lifeboat Station were urgently called out to a major incident at Budleigh Salterton today.

Lifeboat Pulled from Duty After Emergency Call-Out

The Teignmouth Atlantic 85 Lifeboat was immediately taken out of service and recovered to Torbay following the emergency. With crew forced to return by land, the lifeboat won’t be available for tomorrow’s hoped-for event.

RNLI Warns: Don’t Brave the Cold Sea Solo

The RNLI is urging everyone to skip the traditional Boxing Day swim this year. Due to rough conditions and the lifeboat’s absence, sea entry alone is too dangerous. They thank locals for understanding and continued support.
