Missing Man Mystery: Richard Dyson Vanishes in Hoyland
Richard Dyson, 56, from Barnsley, was last spotted strolling along Sheffield Road (A6135) in Hoyland near Parkside Farm on 17 November last year. Since then, he has vanished without a trace.
Daughter Pleads for Answers After Year-Long Nightmare
His daughter, 20-year-old Bethany Dainty, says the past 12 months have been the toughest of her life. She last saw her dad when he dropped her off in Aston, Rotherham, on 15 November 2023. He was reported missing 10 days later.
“Waking up every day not knowing what has happened to dad is like a bad dream that I can’t get away from,” Bethany said.
“All I want to know is what happened. I am certain somebody, or maybe even more than one person, knows something that will help.”
She adds a heartfelt plea: “Please get in touch. I ask you directly, and from the bottom of my heart, please, please get in touch and tell somebody what you know. I don’t deserve to live like this, I just need some answers.”
Police Keep Investigation Open
South Yorkshire Police say the search is still active. Detective Inspector Neil Coop revealed Mr Dyson was known to spend time in Elsecar and Hoyland. Officers want to trace his movements leading up to his disappearance.
“It doesn’t matter how minor you think your contribution may be, we really do want to hear from you,” Det Insp Coop urged.
