Tragic Death of Calne Man Michael Beaven on A4
Michael Beaven, 80, has been named as the victim killed on the A4 at Derry Hill on 7th February. The much-loved local was a lifelong Calne resident, known for his kindness and community spirit.
Family Man and Friendly Local
Michael was the proud father of three – Louise, Craig, and Katie – and doting grandad to Tyler and Harvey. Born in Devizes, he spent all his life in Calne, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
From Engineer to Local Legend
Before retirement, Michael worked as a BP pipeline engineer until the age of 50. For the past 30 years, he enjoyed life to the fullest, often spotted enjoying a drink and a chat at the Liberal Club in Calne or later at Wetherspoons in Chippenham.
Local Family Mourns
Michael’s siblings – Sally, Suzie, Pete, and John – all live nearby and are grieving his loss. Many from the community will remember him as a kind soul always ready to lend a hand.
He will be deeply missed by friends, family, and the wider Calne community.
