A259 Road Closure Cripples Local Traffic
The crash has forced the closure of the A259 in both directions between the A27 at Westham and the B2182 near Bexhill. A National Highways spokesperson confirmed that Sussex Police and all emergency services are managing the scene.
Road workers are also on site helping with traffic control. The closure is expected to remain all afternoon due to the severity of the crash.
Westbound Diversion Route (Follow Hollow Triangle)
- Exit A259 at Belle Hill, Bexhill, onto A269 northbound.
- Follow A269 until it merges with A271 westbound towards A22 at Lower Horsebridge.
- Take A22 southbound towards A27 and Eastbourne.
- At A27 junction, continue west or return to A259 at Pevensey via Pevensey Haven roundabout.
Eastbound Diversion Route (Follow Hollow Diamond)
- From Pevensey Roundabout, join A27 westbound towards Polegate.
- At Cop Hall Roundabout, take A22 northbound.
- Continue to Boship Roundabout, turn right on A271 eastbound.
- Merge onto A269 through Hertsmonceux and Ninfield, heading to Bexhill.
- Rejoin A259 at traffic lights in Bexhill.
Sussex Police Issue Warning to Motorists
“Officers are responding to a serious two-vehicle collision on the A259 at Hooe,” a spokesperson said. “The road is closed both ways between Pevensey Roundabout and Little Common Roundabout and will likely stay shut until early evening. Please seek alternative routes. Thank you for your understanding.”
